Erik waterkotte

AN ASSISTANT PROFESSOR, DEPARTMENT OF ART & ART HISTORY, UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA AT CHARLOTTE.
Using print media, collage, and digital applications, Waterkotte creates layered imagery that both elucidates and obscures. By overlapping and layering the imagery, his work fluctuates in-and-out of being. The interstitial processes of printmaking allow him to fabricate, reduce, and distort imagery in order to create temporal, ephemeral, and shifting work. He is interested in images that reference both beauty and terror, images that walk the line between representation and abstraction, form and formless.

Cost:  Members, $95, Non-Members, $125

Marjorie hicks workshop

Monday, March 30 &
Tuesday, March 31, 2020

As much as she enjoys painting, Marjorie has a heart for teaching as well. Her students learn to lay a strong  foundation for their paintings, focusing on values to capture the wonder of light.  Students learn to simplify and fine tune their initial drawing to capture the essence and drama of their subject.

Marjorie always seeks to build the confidence of her students by urging them to paint often, and fearlessly! Vincent Van Gogh said “If you hear a voice within you   saying ‘you are not a painter,’ then by all means paint!... and that voice will be silenced.”
